Dino
Rogliani Australian sculptor
An
important Australian sculptor, Dino Rogliani was born in Naples in
Italy in 1932. He studied fine art Liceo Artistico in Naples (Italy)
from 1948 till 1952 and life drawing at academia di Brera, arrived
in Australia 1971 and attended to sculpture summer school at
National art School Sydney and Master class with
Elizabeth Cummins.

exhibited
extensively
in
Europe in particular Italy and
Australia.

created
unique
beautiful
sculptures in
bronze.
Rogliani unique
sculptures in bronze are based on Narratives and Chronicles of ancient culture
of Italy and Greece, that came to be foundational to Western culture, and was
immensely influential in spheres of philosophy, science and the arts.

Dino Rogliani was a very creative artist.
Born in 1932, Dino Rogliani was
largely influenced by the 1950s. The 1950s can be said to have been dominated by
Abstract Expressionism, a form of painting that prioritised expressive
brushstrokes and explored ideas about organic nature, spirituality and the
sublime.
Much of the focus was on the formal techniques of painting, and ideas of action
painting were unified with the political freedom of the United States society as
opposed to the stricture’s nature of the Soviet bloc.
In the Post-War period the lens of modernism was focused, in terms of
international attention, on developments in New York City. The Second World War
had brought many leading creatives to the city in exile from Europe, leading to
a significant pooling of talent and ideas. Influential Europeans that came to
New York and provided inspiration for American artists included Piet Mondrian,
Josef Albers and Hans Hoffmann, who between them set the grounds for much of the
United States’ significant cultural growth in the decades thereafter.
Influential artists of the Abstract Expressionist Generation included Jackson
Pollock (who innovated his famed drip, splatter and pour painting techniques),
Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Frank Kline, Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still and
Adolph Gottlieb. It was a male dominated environment, though necessary
reassessment of this period has highlighted the contributions of female artists
such as Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, and Louise Bourgeois, amongst others.
