Gankhuyang Dolgordorj

Gankhuyag Dolgordorj is a Mongolian artist known for his unique technique that combines canvas, sand, stone, lime, and oils has been exhibiting in Mongolia, Hong Kong and Australia in 2015.

'Mongolia Interpreted' exhibition was facilitated by Jan Meek former Senior Advisor at the NGA and John McDonald, an art critic for the Sydney Morning Herald. The exhibition was curated by international art exhibition coordinator Khaliun Enkhjargal.

‘Mongolia Interpreted’ is a major Mongolian exhibition exploring the artist's fascination with the myths of Mongolia's past as well as the vastness of the landscape and soft airiness of the natural fauna and flora govern the stroke of his brush and warm choice of colours.

Gankhuyag has an inbuilt mastery of his canvas, which in many of the works is wood. The exhibition also has a series of expert drawings that extend his theme in an exciting and moving way. The artist technique is both decorative and animistic at the same time mixing sand, stone mud lime, calcium and oils onto the wooden panel and then burning the images of the forest onto the highly toned and coloured surface.
